Our Vision

The Joseph Mayer Community Partnership aimed at saving Mayer Hall, Pennant House and The Clock Tower (formerly the Mayer Free Library).

As a group we have a very ambitious vision of the redevelopment of the Joseph Mayer Buildings that brings them into use for the sole benefit of the Community of not only Bebington and surrounding area but the wider Community of the Borough of Wirral.

That vision aims to regain the very vision that Joseph Mayer had when he started by building The Free Library, Mayer Hall and Public Park as places to enrich the lives of the local Community through the advancement of knowledge and pleasure thereby supporting the development of Community Spirit. For having bequeathed these buildings to the Community on his death for their continued use by the Community it is as important in to-days world as in his time.

We wish to bring all three buildings into full use with a mix of Community non-for profit commercial use along side Community Groups. To develop a new build to link all three building with a common entrance, Community Café and all services, giving easy open access to all levels for everyone.

Incorporate the Mayer Park through the Friends Group into the scheme using it for Community Events and restoring the Bebington Flower Show as an annual event and promote community use along side Schools.

Set-up a Heritage Centre and Shop to draw in Visitors on the Wirral Heritage Trail exposing them to the Legacy of Joseph Mayer whose actives through his Collections of various important Artefacts is not only recognised National but also Worldwide. Some of which can be seen in the Liverpool Museum and The Walker Art Gallery in William Brown Square.

To this end we need Volunteers with Professional, Skilled and Non Skilled experiences to come and join us from all backgrounds in turning this vision into reality for the people of Wirral and be part of the most ambitious project that Wirral has seen.
